As the leaves start to fall and the days get shorter and colder, it's worth reviewing your diet. Naturally, in the following months, your body will need something completely different than in the hot, saturated days of summer. 

Autumn and winter are a time of calm, dryness and cold, which must be balanced with a well-composed diet and nutritious food. This ensures that your balance will not be disturbed, you will not feel tired, the autumn solstice and do not freeze, which is important, especially if your dominant dosha is vata or kapha. In this post I will tell you, what to eat in autumn in Ayurveda. How to make your own dishes, what tastes to address, and what things to keep in mind, no matter what Constitutional type you represent.

Basic principles of Ayurveda

Ayurveda is the oldest medicine in the world, which originated in India. It has more than 5,000 years of existence. She is the mother of all healing arts. It comes from her m.in Chinese medicine, homeopathy, or even modern medicine. 

One of the pillars of Ayurveda is the concept of the universe, that is, everything that surrounds us, based on 5 elements: Water, Air, Fire, space and earth. These elements manifest in the three energies that we call doshas. These include Vata, Pitta i Kapha. 

They appear in each of us, but in different proportions. What are they characterized by? Of course, the topic is very complex, but for the purposes of this post, it is worth understanding, albeit basic assumptions.

We all have our own dominant dosha or a combination of the two. This is the innate energy with which we come into the world and which we should strive for, according to Ayurveda.

Autumn in Ayurveda

Autumn, according to Ayurveda, is associated with the vata dosha, which dry, windy and variable weather conditions. The element of Air and space prevails. It's getting chilly outside. The leaves creak under our boots, and we turn into new layers. This is a time of calm, tranquility and relaxation. 

What can we do to compensate for the increased impact of a windy, dry autumn on our energy? First of all, we need to balance it with something completely opposite, that is, what is warm, dense, oily-fixed in the ground, kindling the fire of our body. Below, I've compiled some tips on what to eat in the fall in Ayurveda. The collected tips will allow you to take care of your balance. 

What to eat in the fall? The Ayurvedic Diet

Foods best avoided in the fall, according to Ayurveda

In the fall, you should avoid anything that contains a lot of space and air. For example, it is better to give up food. popcorn or dry, crunchy bread. You should also be wary of vegetables, which can cause gas in our intestines. m.in. broccoli, cauliflower. Same with dried fruits, nuts, beans, or peas. If you want to eat them, you should soak them in advance. 

We also avoid millet porridge. If it's an important part of your diet, pay attention to what time you consume it, because it's not good for everyone. From the morning millet meal on an ongoing basis, people who have a disturbed glucose-insulin economy should refuse.

It is worth knowing that millet has water absorption properties, so in the autumn, dry season, it pulls it out of our body additionally, which may not serve us.

Food is good in autumn according to Ayurveda

First of all, our dishes should be sweet, sour or salty. In addition, it is worth turning to dense, suspended and oily products that warm and moisturize the body.

Cooking single pot dishes and warm, nutritious soups based on products that come from the ground, such as carrots, parsley, and beets. The exception is white potatoes. 

The diet should be adapted to the individual needs of our body, and not necessarily to taste. It's worth considering, what our body needswhat can nourish us from the inside out and plan meals based on that. 

What to drink in autumn according to Ayurveda?

We avoid fresh smoothies based on raw fruits and vegetables. We achieve moisturizing compotes, herbal infusions and warm infusions that will hydrate and warm the body. To do this, you should buy a thermos or thermos that keeps the temperature.

During the autumn period, you should also surround yourself with warm relationships, kindness, conversations and meetings that will help you achieve your goals. they bring warm emotions to the heart.
