I have spoken about my love for Ayurvedic philosophy many times before. I consider the holistic approach to life, body and mind to be very close to my heart and identical to my values. I mention it again because it is thanks to ayurveda that I can tell you about the heroine of today's text: turmeric.
It has crept unrivalled into my favour - exactly like ayurveda. ☺ The effects of turmeric are extremely wide-ranging and I could literally talk about it for hours. In this text, however, I will tell you about its most important properties and the reasons why I use it.
Reinforcement on the inside
Firstly, it saves me from medication. Turmeric is a fantastic immune booster, anti-inflammatory and analgesic and is often an effective substitute for drugstore products - to my and my body's delight. I most often take it in the form of infusions to drink (from fresh or powdered), and often combine it with ginger to create a health-promoting bomb 😉 It has been irreplaceable in Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years.
Turmeric in a more veiled form can be found in my kitchen - I add it as a spice to many dishes.
Turmeric in natural cosmetics
I wouldn't be me if I didn't harness the miraculous properties of turmeric in natural rejuvenation and my own little home beauty lab. Turmeric extract is one of my favourite ingredients in creams and masks. They have anti-wrinkle, anti-bacterial and blemish removing effects. It is the perfect complement and enhancement to the effect my facial exercises give me!
Let me tell you the recipe for my favourite turmeric mask. ☺
Ingredients:
- ½ mashed banana
- ¼ teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon of thick honey
You can apply such a mixture to your face, neck, décolleté and even lips! Leave it on for 15 minutes or a little longer, but be careful not to eat it in the meantime... 😉 Turmeric can dye your complexion. If this happens, just wipe your face with olive oil and then water with lemon juice. And then? Enjoy a smooth and beautiful face!
Turmeric is a multi-level therapy - it heals on the inside and beautifies on the outside. It has been with me permanently for a few years now and now I can't imagine natural rejuvenation without it. How about you? Do you know and use turmeric in your kitchen and bathroom? If not, we highly recommend you start - me and ayurveda. ☺
