Natural care - home cosmetics based on the beauty yoga recipe

Eco, bio and organic - these words are increasingly appearing on the packaging of drugstore products chosen by women. Natural cosmetics have a wonderful effect on our skin, so I'm not surprised that you are so keen to reach for them. However.

...I have hardly bought any skincare products from the drugstore for years. The reason is simple - I make them myself at home! When I became interested in natural rejuvenation and facial exercises, drugstores did not have such a wide range of products as they do nowadays, and the topic of „eco” was not very widespread in Poland. So I started making homemade cosmetics, and today I will tell you how you can make your first products.

Natural care - a helping hand for the environment

Making homemade cosmetics is not only a way of natural rejuvenation, an interesting hobby or a unique form of self-care. By using this kind of care, we also care for the environment.

By making natural cosmetics, we do not pollute the water or soil with chemicals and we do not consume dozens of cardboard boxes, foils, leaflets or packaging. Yoga Beauty is holistic concept, and living in harmony with nature is one of its key elements.

Benefits of homemade cosmetics for our skin

When shop shelves are crammed with beauty products, making homemade cosmetics can seem superfluous. So... why is it worth it?

Every skin has different requirements. Just as I choose individual exercises for each of you in my facial yoga workshops, natural cosmetics are created with your skin's needs in mind.
By making our own creams, we can consciously exclude chemical ingredients or those that may sensitise us and match plant-based components to our skin type. Most store-bought products contain controversial parabens, detergents or petroleum-based substances. In the production of homemade cosmetics, however, we can use ingredients of natural origin.

The question of preservatives is also worth raising. We don't have to add them to home-made products, but if we want to, we can opt for a small amount of organic preservative. In shop products, these agents are very strong due to restrictions on their shelf life. Natural care using homemade cosmetics does not require harsh chemicals - self-made cream can be used up quickly and kept in the fridge.

The price of natural care

I am definitely debunking the myth that says natural cosmetics have to be expensive. I completely disagree with this and will explain why.

We always focus on the initial costs: we need to buy basic equipment and a few ingredients to make homemade cosmetics. However, we forget that we will use them many times. As a result, for 10-20 PLN we can make a luxury product for which we would have to pay even several hundred PLN in a shop. The initial investment thus pays off almost immediately.

Two provisions

For a good start to your adventure with natural cosmetics, I present to you two simple recipes: for a protective lipstick and a rich face oil. I look forward to hearing your impressions!

Lip protection lipstick - formula

10 minutes of work and you can find all the ingredients and packaging in online shops. Get to work! ☺

Ingredients for 4 pieces:
- 8 gr beeswax
- 3 gr mango butter
- 6 gr avocado butter
- 3 gr shea butter
- 8 ml almond oil
- 5 ml jojoba oil
- 3 ml macadamia oil
- Vitamin E 10 drops
- optionally a few drops of buriti oil

You can also make a simpler version using only one type of oil, e.g. almond oil, but of course the total amount of oil used must be the sum of all the oils listed; similarly with butters - you can use only shea butter, for example.

Method of preparation:
1. Measure the beeswax in a beaker and dissolve it in a water bath.
2. add the butter to the melted wax and mix.
3. keep the beaker in a water bath, add and mix the oils.
4 Take the beaker out of the water bath, add and mix the vitamin E.
5. pour the liquid solution into the empty lipstick in one go.
6 Set the lipstick aside, the mixture needs to set. After approx. 20-30 minutes, the lipstick is ready for use.

This is my favourite lipstick - it takes excellent care of my lips, especially those prone to chapping.

Rich face oil

Banal to make, and the possibilities of use and spectrum of action extremely wide: nourishes, moisturises, lubricates, brightens the complexion, anti-inflammatory and rejuvenates. I don't think I need to encourage you further? ☺

Proportions for 50 ml
- apricot oil 10 ml
- macadamia oil 10 ml
- jojoba oil 10 ml
- buriti oil 2 ml
- wheat germ oil 5 ml
- raspberry seed oil 5 ml
- hemp oil 5 ml
- Vitamin E 1 ml
- Vitamin C in oil form 2 ml

Method of preparation:
Measure (e.g. with a measuring dropper) the quantities given and pour into a glass bottle.

Such an oil can be used instead of a cream on the face, neck and décolleté or for a facial massage.

Making homemade cosmetics is all about having fun and being sure of proportions: 0 chemicals and 100% natural ingredients. Will you give it a try?
